Baylor Medical Center chose XLS to backup multi-petabyte Human Genome Project data:
The Center uses Qualstar’s XLS 820500 Enterprise Library System with 1,340 cartridge slots,
sixteen LTO 4 fibre channel tape drives, stores over 1 Petabyte of uncompressed data and can
transfer almost 7 TB of information per hour, enabling the Center to hit their backup windows,
reduce floor space and the amount of tape handling by people and robotics.

Tupperware Selects XLS for Reliability and TCO:
“The XLS initially appealed to me based on the price of the
library and the cost of maintenance. I knew the system
would last me for a while. I also know it is easy to expand if I
ever need to do so.”

Northern Arizona University (NAU) selected Qualstar library for faster performance and more capacity.
A Qualstar TLS-6430 multi-drive library was selected with SDLT drives and a
capacity to handle 30 tapes at a time.
NAU replaced a Quantum P7000 library, equipped with twelve SDLT tape drives and
700 slots, with a more efficient Qualstar XLS-812300 system. Also instead of using
eight drives with 700 slots, the Qualstar library provided both faster performance
and much more capacity using just four LTO 4 drives and 300 slots.
